Last snow pictures?

Tomorrow the temperatures will rise to above zero so the melting will start and all the nice pictures around us will disappear. So "maybe" for the last time some winter photos.

The last few days the Dutch went massive to ice-skate at frozen lakes in the country which hadn't been able for several years. When ice comes the Dutch become a little mad and everybody wants to go skating and when a  tour is organized people don't go to work or school. But the amount of skaters that last Thursday wanted to make a tour was 17.000! It was impossible to have all those people on the ice, so the organization had to cancel the whole tour after a while.
I came by a nice blog of Jana around the world who made a wonderful skating tour in the Netherlands. Have a look to get an impression.

  2. It's not over until it's over. There was a big thaw here melting all of the snow and the ice disappeared from the lakes. Then came a deep freeze and the ice and snow returned.

  3. I like your bench picture and really enjoyed looking at Jana's pictures of folks skating along the canals with the molen in the distance!

  4. Visited the link you provided with happy looking skaters. Found your snow pictures equally as interesting but the static shots make everything look so much colder.

  6. just going to pop over to the link you provided, after saying how interesting your "last" snow photos are or might be. Yah never know about the weather. Its never over in the Maritimes - we are always prepared for everything. Just something one gets used to. Today it has warmed up a wee bit. Its only -19 at the moment with a howling wind, but then HEY - the sun is shining. Cheers

  7. Over here the Dutch have brought marathon skating...50 km. I't pretty interesting.
I skate every week in an arena and we only have about twenty people. We would be overwhelmed with 17000 people.

  8. Leuke sneeuw foto,s er is hier vandaag ook weer een pak gevallen. Het zal morgen wel bagger worden. Als ik zo naar de weersverwachtingen kijk krijgen we een hoop regen. Prettige Zondag nog.
