Bully

This swan looks beautiful and very majestic but he is a bully.

I watched the ducks and swans in this parc, the little white one on the left wanted to go in the water too, but the swan prevented that. He was waiting for him and looking at him and the duck tried several times to go down and than was intimidated by the bully.

And then there were suddenly two of them, that was to much and he gave up and turned around. Animals are just like humans.

  1. Meanwhile, what were the Mallards doing to help their fellow duck? Nada! Sheesh!

  2. Yes, swans are beautiful and graceful but not to be engaged with too closely.Occasionally my dogs have been chased by swans on the foot path by a pond.....luckily I'm aware of the potential danger and keep an eye on them, especially at nesting time. Lovely photos!

    Have a good week,

  3. Lovely captures and poor little fellow didn't make it to the waters edge - yes, swans can be quite nasty and bullys and they move so very fast, if you happen to disturb them, especially with young babies.

  4. Yup, some animals get by on their beauty, regardless of their behavior!

  6. I think the one on the left is a seagull. Gulls rob nests. maybe these swans want to protect their territory. Yes they can be bullies. They do like to protect their territory. Sometimes they are predators. However, your swans are very beautiful and majestic birds.

  8. Dearest Marianne,
Maybe indeed it did look like bullying but the swans might only prevent that seagull from hanging around in their area and snatching their freshly laid eggs...? At times it will be hard to judge some critter as being a bully or maybe just a perpetrator. The other ducks seem to get along fine with these swans because they're no threat to them.
