Goose

This Egyptian Goose landed on a boot in an Amsterdam canal and began to chatter loudly. He had apparently experienced something special he wanted  tell the world,  but I couldn't understand what...

Narrow shop

The narrowest shop of Amsterdam 244 cm wide. Called the "Small Trippenhuis" at the Kloveniersburgwal and dating from 1696.

It is almost as wide as one door.

Spring again?

After the cold weather we suddenly had, the weather forecasts are better now.  Maybe we can return to the spring weather we had a few weeks ago and sit outside again.

Skywatch

When there is no rain, fog or snow the sky looks like this on a winter day, a  pretty change. This is a row of old houses at the Singel in Amsterdam. As a nice bonus I got the bird flying in, hadn't noticed him until uploading the photos.

I especially like these two from 1730 with the beautiful decorated tops which are called  neck gables. It  almost looks they have a curl hairstyle.

Amsterdam canal houses

The Old Lutheran Church at the Singel in Amsterdam dating from 1633. With renovations of the canal side here all the trees have been removed and you have now an unusual view at all the houses.

Some houses are leaning aside.

Others have beautiful decorations on top.

This one suffers some serious prolapse.

They are all very old like this one from 1652.

Summer in the city

With summer temperatures of 26 C (78F) degrees everything that can float goes in the water in the canals of Amsterdam. Here an open touristboat.

Pedalos and motorboats.

An old army boat. I leaned over the bridge railing and some bicycles I see now with the handlebars in front.

With music and a drink. Linking to "Our World Tuesday"

Humor

Amsterdam people have a sense of humor, this little one was floating in a canal all by his own He wouldn't turn around to show his face, but he had a nice smoke (joint?)
I have a little blogpause,  I'll be back end of the week. See you.

Shadow Shot Sunday

With the bright sunlight you get also a lot of shadows. This is along a canal in Amsterdam, on the right you see a "carrier tricyle", a common transport for parents to ride their little children around. The pole in front is called an "Amsterdammertje" which you find along the canals to prevent cars to park on the sidewalk.

Amsterdam canals

With all the rain we had this autumn it is not so clever to leave your boat in the canals of Amsterdam without a canvas.

Just a pretty picture of a tourist vessel  in the canal.

Tourists

Lots of tourists in Amsterdam at the moment. This is the queue at the Anne Frank house that goes on around the corner in the back.

The activity in the canals, locals and tourists all want to be there.

These girls had no notion where to go and almost bumped against some boats. The guy prefers to watch the  tour on his I-phone!
