Street life

Dutch photographer "Hans Eijkelboom" made series in the streets with a theme as here people in the green hunter's coat.

Or men with straw baskets.

Girls with an Abercombie and Fitch shopping bag.
Saw these at an exhibition at the Photography Museum in the Hague last year.

Rejected photos

I am a bit out of new photos so I scrolled through the archives and found these one's from last year's fashion exhibition about Hubert de Givenchy. I choose for the rejected photos because someone was popping up in front of my camera.

There are always unexpected passersby when making a photo.

Another passerby but she suits very well with the dresses.

Hope you enjoyed the series.

Sculpture

A sculpture by Belgian born artist "Panamarenko" , pseudonym of  Henri van Herwegen(1940). He is famous for his work with aeroplanes as theme; none of which are able nor constructed to actually leave the ground.
Panamarenko studied at the academy of Antwerp. Before 1968 his art was inspired by pop-art, but  early-on he became interested in aeroplanes and human powered flight. This interest is also reflected in his name, which supposedly is an acronym for "Pan American Airlines and Company".

Villa Gondang

Villa Gondang in the Hague was built in 1913 for George Arnold (born Semarang 1847-1928), manager of the Gondang-Winangoen & Djethis, a sugar factory in Klaten, the Dutch East Indies. He came to the Hague with his family in 1913 and commissioned architect Samuel de Clerq for the construction. The name Gondang refers to the place where the first child in the Arnold family was born. From 1927 the villa was exploited  by the eponymous company Gondang as an apartment building for repatriates form the Dutch East Indies.

Art Nouveau

The Hague has some very pretty houses built around 1900 in Jugendstil or Art Nouveau style.

Watch the details.

And that ironwork at the balcony and the windows.

And a look around the corner.

Museum

Sometimes a museum itself is a piece of art as here a hall in the Municipal Museum in The Hague.

Gonzales, Picasso and friends

In 1928 Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) went to see his old friend and fellow Spaniard Julio Gonzales (1876-1942) in Paris. He needed the help of the talented metalworker to turn a two-dimensional design into a metal sculpture.

It was to be the start of a close partnership and an the continuation of a unique friendship.

In the Municipal Museum in The Hague I saw an exhibtion of their metal works.

Tram ride

I made these pictures during a tram ride in The Hague.

There are such nice old houses there.

Look at that decoration on top.

Nice bay windows.

This huge building is a gymnasium says the sign above the arch.

We made a nice circle around this pretty square with blossoming trees.

People watching

When you can read mirror writing you can see from where I made these photos in The Hague.

When we have sunny days so early in the year in March everybody enjoys it to be outside.

Fashion

At a fashion exhibition of  French couturier "Hubert de Givenchey" (1927)  in the Gemeente Museum in The Hague.

I loved to see the details of the embroidery so close!

He had many famous clients as actress Audrey Hepburn who was his muze. The pink minidress with cap is her weddingdress with Andrea Dotti in 1969.

Princess Gracia of Monaco.

The Duchess of Windsor. the former Wallis Simpson.

When the Duke of Windsor had died, this mourning costume was made in one night for his wife to wear at the funeral.

And at the end of the exhibition I couldn't resist to try an Audrey Hepburn hat.
