Kings Day

And crowded it was again yesterday at Kingsday. The weather was sunny and everybody enjoyed the festive free day.

The Freemarket is always the fun of the Day when everyone cleans their attics and tries to sell all the Stuff.

You can even find a pretty dress

Kingsday

Today we celebrate the birthday of our King Willem Alexander. It is a national high day,  everybody has a day off. But due to Corona there are no festivities in the streets this year as freemarkets where everybody could sale their atticks stuff. This photo is from another year celebration, Orange is the family name of  our King so many wear this colour at that day.

This is a freemarket.

King's Day

Today it is King's day, the celebration of the birthday of our King Willem Alexander. Usually he visits with his familiy  every year another city in the Netherlands to celebrate it there with the inhabitants. This year everything is different because of  the Corona virus. The King stays at home and there are no festivities in the whole country at all. No famous "freemarkets" where everybody can sell his attic stuff and  children their toys. It is all forbiddden this year....
Take a look "here" how it was in 2018

Screenshots

It is hard to see but I made this photo as a screenshot from the television I was watching on Kings Day. King Willem Alexander and his daughter Amalia are looking up watching

these dancers hanging on ropes, performing in the air against a high tower in Amersfoort.

And one of Queen Maxima having a chat. I am suprised about the quality of the screenshots, as if I was there myself.

Kings Day (2)

Kings Day was a cold and wet day this year.

I made a quick walk in the village after the showers had stopped but it was an empty place no free market anymore. Everybody had gone home. Only this brave boy played the flute and I gave him some money.

Probably this "bird of paradise" didn't bother the cold or had sold his shoes.

Kings Day

Today we celebrate "Kings Day", the celebrating of the birthday of King Willem Alexander.
This is a picture of last year at the "Free-market" in Almere where everybody can sell out their attick stuff on the street. I am off now, show you more tomorrow.

King's Day

Today we celebrate the one and fiftieth birthday of our King Willem-Alexander. I made this photo of him and his family from television. They celebrate his birthday each year in another city and this year it is Groningen far in the north of our country.

The Dutch people celebrate this day off traditionally with a "free market" that stands for selling your attic stuff and everthing you want to get rid of in the streets.

Children try to earn some money with playing music.

And selling toys and other stuff.

Poor doll was for sale. I would never sell my dolls when I was a kid or even grown up.

"Kings's Day"

A few impressions of the "Free Market" of yesterday's King's Day.

It was cold and many people started to sit there early in the morning.

Orange is our national colour because the Royal Family is from the House of Orange.

This sweety did her best to earn some money and we gave her some of course.

The kid some toys and she wants also something.

This I didn't understand, she was at the wrong party I think.

Kings day

Today it is "Kings day", the celebration of the birthday of our King Willem Alexander. This year a crown year because he will be 50 years old. It is a holiday for everyone and tradition is to sell your attic out on in the streets. The whole country is an open fleamarket.
Unfortunately it is very cold today only 7 C (44.6) .

These photo's are from last year. I will visit the market later today.

King's Day

Today we celebrate the birthday of our King Willem-Alexander with the traditional "Free market" where everybody can sell their attic stuff in the streets. Unfortunately it is one of the coldest King's Day ever but, as a miracle the sun is shining,  after the heavy hail storms we had yesterday and even snow in the north part of our country,

So everybody is in a good mood and ready to earn some money.

This Queen offered to paint your nails for money.

Can't imagine all the toys belonged to these little ones!

Selling a candyfloss.

And after returning home with a warm coffee, I turned on the television to watch the visit of the King and his family at the city of Zwolle,  here with Queen Maxima and crownprincess Amalia.

Queen Maxima, elegant as ever.

Free market

The name of our royal family is "Van Oranje" so orange has become our national colour and many put something orange on at Kingsday.

For the jumble sale or rummage sale people come very early in the morning to find a nice selling place for their stuff in the streets. We call it a "free market" because no permit or entrance fee is neccesary for this special one day in the year.

The whole center of Almere was covered with carpets full of stuff, mostly toys and clothes. Children try to sell their toys to earn money to buy other ones.

This boy was showing his skills on the guitar for money.

It was a sunny but cold windy day but as long as it was not raining everybody was happy. I didn't buy anything, I have a house full of stuff, maybe I have to sit on a carpet next year too.
