Friday Fences

Today something completely different. Yesterday was a very dark and rainy day and I decided finally to start making a photobook of our holiday in Norway last July. I had to make a choice from 600 photos of my own and the same amount of hubby. I travelled the whole day with my computer through Norway again and saw some pretty photos I had almost forgotten. My eyes were square in the end of the day! I haven't started the book yet but made at least a choice from the hundreds of photos. I think this photo in the open-air museum in Lillehammer will do for the Friday Fences theme.

Nice fence

A fence with a funny addition. Maybe the older ones of you recognize the golden crown pen we used as a child when we learned handwriting in school. We had to dip it in the inkpot and write our characters in a school notebook with lined paper. This pen was specially used for learning slanted handwriting.

Friday Fences

Looking for a fence I was scrolling through my oldies and found this one appropriate for the theme. It is the Vigeland Park in Oslo, Norway which I visited last summer.

Friday Fences

A fence along the Sarphati park in Amsterdam. In the seventies I lived close to this park and spend much time here at the playground with my children. This was the way home along the Ceintuurbaan," Girdle Road" in english,  a long straight road through the neighbourhood de Pijp ( the Pipe).

At that time I never took any notice of the fence, but now I had a closer look and saw the nice decorated poles. See for more Friday Fences here

Friday Fences

An iron fence in front of a canal house in Amsterdam. It has four arrows, but I have no idea what that means. And of course the inevitable bicycles put against the stairs.

Friday Fences

A nice decorated iron fence in front of a canal house in Amsterdam. You can see that every house has a different fence.

And here the complete entrance.

Friday Fences

This fence is in front of the "National Institute of War Documentation"  (NIOD) at the Herengracht in Amsterdam.

Not many canalhouses have such a heavy iron fence in front of their office, don't know why this one is so defensive. But is it is always handy to put your bike against.

Friday Fences

The garden of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has a nice steel fence. The white sculpture is made by British sculptor Henry Moore.

With all kinds of ornaments.

All on the water.

To get in a boat in an Amsterdam canal is not always easy. These people had to climb over the fence and let themselves go down carefully.

During summer it is always very busy on the water in the canals, everybody has nowadays his own boat and they all look different. The next one came along already to attache it on the fence.

Whole families are making a tour although the weather was not that warm.

A walk in the park

We enjoy some pretty nice weather at the moment and went for a walk in the Kromslootpark in Almere Haven. It is a nice park with sheep to keep the grass short. To prevent them of walking away you have to pass some fences and have to watch they keep behind. This one was eager to cross the bridge but we managed to pass him.

They have plenty room to walk around and a lot to eat.

It is a beautiful park where you hardly see any other visiters.

The park was created before the first houses of the new town Almere Haven were built and after 38 years it has devellopped a nice nature to have close by, only a 15 minutes bike ride from our home.

One of the wooden bridges to cross the little ditches.
I link this one to the Friday Fences meme.

Friday Fences

The fence on the right hand side is in the pretty city of Naarden. It is hardly to see as it is covered with green as you can see in the photo below.

The driveway entrance to the Nijenhuis Castle in Heino/Wijhe with an iron fence.

And the fence to the entrance of the Castle.

Friday Fences

In the Kromslootpark in Almere eleven Scots Highlanders have come to join the sheep who already graze there. They seem to eat different parts of the vegetation I read. The parc is accessible for pedestrians and these animals are harmless for visitors is told, but I was glad to see him behind a fence, those horns....

A fence at the cemetery in Almere Haven. The cemetery has so called "grave chambers" where a limited amount of graves are surrounded by hedges and a fence. See for more Friday Fences here

Friday Fences

I was looking in my oldies for Friday Fences and came to this one made last year in Norway at the Malselvfossen (waterfalls). Sometimes you forget what wonderful things you have seen all over the world with your travels and there is still so much more to see....

Friday Fences

This fence belongs to a wooden foot bridge in the Oosterpark in Amsterdam. The red masks are made in a  Chinese style.

Here you have a view of the complete bridge with pillars in Japanese style. As a child I have passed this bridge many times and always liked to watch the masks which are at the same height as a little child.
This is my contribution to Friday Fences
