These are photo's of a exhibition in Amsterdam of the Norwegian Magnum photographer Jonas Bendiksen.
He made pictures of people in their homes in the slums in Nairobi, Caracas, Jakarta and Mumbai, and he lived with them for several months. The photo's are projected in small rooms on four walls, so it is as if you are in the picture yourself. With streetsounds from speakers you get the feeling how the people have to live.
It is very impressive, the people live in very small rooms and sometimes have a televison or sewing-machine.
That would be depressing. I like art that raises your spirits.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThese pictures really make you think about how fortunate you are.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's very important and urgent to visit that kind of exhibitions to know the world where we live and make something to change it, to make it better.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenRegards and thank you for sharing those so human photos.
Regards
Valery
