I mentioned before my love for the sculptures on bridges in Amsterdam of Hildo Krop. This one is at the "Muzen-square" , built in 1929 and decorated with two sculptures, a boy with rabits and a girl with
squirrels.
Upon the pillars of the bridge is a big rearer horse with a little girl between his legs, called the open-mindedness of mankind.
See for other Sunday Bridges here
They are very interesting sculptures and on a bridge too. I love the house behind the boy with rabbits.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI had to take a second look. I thought it was a girl with elephants. I guess I am going nutty. The sculptures add so much beauty to the bridge.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI wish I had seen these while in Amsterdam. They are wonderful sculptures..especially the innocence he has been able to capture in the faces of the children. His animals are lovely, too.. I really enjoyed looking at this post. Genie
BeantwoordenVerwijderenbeautiful sculptures and that is one strong baby ;)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe sculptures are lovely! I like that house in the second picture too.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat interesting bridges! So the bridges are two-fold: useful and works of art!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFunny name, for sure... at least to me.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThese are nice ddditions to the bridges - and sadly I missed them when I was in A'dam as I don't recall these at all.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI also love artwork on bridges like this, and those look excellent.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice to see that bridges can be decorated so wonderfully instead of being merely utilitarian. Well captured.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFijne week.
