This nice image is at the facade of a shop in the "Leidsestraat" in Amsterdam. The frieze was made in 1881 and belonged to a tobacco-shop, the children are playing with all kind of tobacco goods.
Nowadays it is still a shop for smoking goods, but a bit different from the cigars in 1881.
Hopefully the little ones did not work in the tobacco fields! Reminds me to look up...There is so much to see!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe are at home again. Thank you again to our tour guides! Janey

Those are the sweetest little sculptures all of them with their little fat bellies. I just love the OLD and always have. This is just another example of the awesome work the artisans of that time did. Hope you have a nice weekend. genie
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like this a lot! Funny that they chose to portray playing kids and smoking goods, that's probably not-done now :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove those little fat bodies on the frieze!
