These people are waiting to enter a new shop in Amsterdam. This used to be a very pretty departement store with a cafe on top with a nice view over Amsterdam. The store is sold to an American company "Abercrombie & Fitch" which has a special concept of selling clothes. The store looks like a club, it is almost dark inside with very loud music and your are welcomed by half naked boys. I have been inside but think I do not really belong to their target group. It is so crowded inside you have to wait outside in the cold to go in. The shop windows were always very attractive but are all blinded now and the cafe is not accessible anymore. At least I have a weekend reflection of the nice canal houses.
On top you can see the windows of the cafe.
See for more weekend reflections here
I've never been in one of their stores, and it doesn't appeal to me either as you descrbe it. The marketing must work since people are waiting to enter. Too bad the cafe is gone.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is a strange concept for a cloth shop... Interesting sharing of yours ; and the reflection on the windows are amazing !
BeantwoordenVerwijderenjoli coups d oeil !
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBijzonder concept. Toch zie ik mezelf niet in de rij staan voor een kledingzaak.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenKinda like the concept of "tore down the trees and put up a parking lot". Sad to see such a beautiful building and the cafe shop on the top change so drastically to something that would not appeal to me. Half naked men, you say, almost dark inside, very loud music - then does this appeal to the young? Myself I would not go to a ??night club?? style to buy clothing. H-m-m most of those brands probably have less material and higher prices me thinks.?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI do love the reflections and the fine artistic value and history of the building.
Nice reflection. Not a fan of these stores....You are welcome to the rest of ours :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe old and beautiful buildings in Europe are always interesting. I know that many of the old buildings are gone. Here almost all of the old buildings are gone... although very few of our buildings are old.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt is a very interesting sales strategy that they use and does seem to work as there are always queues outside their shop in London. However those reflections are excellent. Well spotted.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTheir stores give me headaches!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDon't forget they spray some terrible smelling perfume which never leaves you. Blech! I don't care for this store either. :S
BeantwoordenVerwijderenoooh yes, i know this store. they are everywhere here and i dont like them either. never go inside after the first try again! they also spray perfume around (at least here), and the entire shopping mall smells like it, really awful! and indeed, they have naked boys or girls at the entrance, especially in new york. so very very stupid!
