Monument

In Naarden this special sculpture catched my eye. It is called the "Climb" and happens to be the National Donor Monument. It symbolizes on the one side someone who had an organ transplantation and thanks to his donor climbs to a new life and on the other hand a surviving relative who climbs from a valley of grief because of the dead donor lives on in someone else.

The sculpture is designed by Egbert Hermsen and made by artist Ben Overkamp.

  1. This story is in my heart - how wonderful to create this National Donor Monument and what a tribute to the donor's family and the new life to the receiver of such a wonderful gift.
