Autumn walk

At 15 minutes cycling from our home we have nice nature to walk in. The weather is pretty good again, pleasant temperatures and no more rain. The trees still have their leaves and they are not yet coloured in brown or red.

When walking in the wood the doorway was suddenly blocked by this tree that had come down. We couldn't pass under so had to climb over it which we managed!

We saw the first mushrooms, I hadn't seen these before, they looked like oysters.

And these ones, like a general with his army.

  1. That last photo looks like one out of a story book.

  2. Oh, these are just lovely - I do very much enjoy your photos - remember that movie "Gomer Pyle"
except in your case " Your posts are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to see". Love it :)

  3. Autumn is such a great time to appreciate nature. Great photos of the mushrooms. Are they edible and did you pick any. I know nothing about wild mushrooms.

    1. No, I never eat wild mushrooms, it is to dangerous and I think it is even not allowed to pluck them here, they are protected.

  4. Quite a selection of fungi there. I don't think I would ever be tempted to try any unless I was with an expert in mushroom identification.

  7. Nothing like a good healthy forest with under growth and best of all mushrooms. Your country is still nice and green. We have very little green left here.

  8. Dearest Marianne,
Wow, your pathway got really blocked by that fallen tree.
Great mushroom photos you show us; a pleasure to see our old profession back... The top one is a Ganoderma Lucidum and the bottom ones are Coprinus Comatus or Inktzwam in Dutch. We grew them also as exotics at our Practical Training College for Mushroom Growing in Horst/Limburg. The latter are delicious but they have such a short shelf life that it is hard for growing them commercially.
This was such a joy to see those two on your blog. Wish I could have walked there with you...
Tonight (for you tomorrow morning) I will post the reply to your question about how I would know it were scissors meant for grapes.
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette
