In Gemeente Museum in the Hague I saw a great exhibition about french designer Coco Chanel (1883-1971). The Chanel Legend tells the fascinating story of Coco Chanel and her celebrated fashion house. Her designs revolutionised the way women dressed in the 20th century. Chanel stood for elegance, style and freedom for movement. Her designs became classics and still feature in todays fashion scene.
This one is from the twenties.
The classic women's suits of the 1960s.
And her famous LBD, "Little Black Dress".
Since 1983 German designer Karl Lagerfeld started to design for the Chanel fashion house and succeeded very well to combine the inheritance with the current fashion climate. With style and respect and the esprit of Coco, as she once said : "fashion fades, only style remains the same".
Chanel Fashion is very well known this way too - Oh, I just love it when I get "dressed up" for something, whether it be dinner, movie or just visiting - oh, to live in my city again one day I hope.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a treat to see these classics
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGeweldige mode . Ik heb een boek over haar leven gehad, denk dat het bij de kringloop terecht is gekomen. Ze ging recht op haar doel af en ze heeft het gemaakt. Karl Lagerfeld doet het prima in haar stijl
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat's funny that just today you write this Chanel legend post. In my post I wear my Chanel purse and also yesterday I did read about Karl Lagerfeld having written and directed a movie: The Return which will premiere in Dallas Texas on Tuesday, December 10, 2013... http://chanel-news.chanel.com/en/home.html/
Madame Coco Chanel left us a legacy!
Hugs,
Mariette
I think she definitely changed women's clothing style so much, made fashion much more comfortable and easy to wear.. Classic Channel will be around forever. Must have been such an interesting exhibition, love the collection of LBD 's.
