Sculptures

I Hattem I noticed this rather green sculpture of a lion, a dog? The poor creature is chained as if somebody would lift it up and walk away with it. I forgot to read the sign to it but on internet I found its name "Kladdegat". Don't ask me what that means, I don't know the word in dutch either. It is made by Jan-Erik Barendsen.

This little fellow is situated along the river IJssel and is called "The little skipper" and was in 1991 made by
 G. Beernink.

This sculpture is in the courtyard of the museum and is a former general practitioner of Hattem "Dr. Sypkens Smit" who had involved himself  extremely with the history of Hattem. The sculpture dates from 2002 and is made by G.W.Barendsen.

  1. I do like the moss covered dog - these statues are very interesting with each their own stories to be told. Nice piece of history here.

  2. I don't know, given the dog's appearance, I'm rather glad it's chained. ;-)

  3. I always appreciate outdoor art, even if I don't know the artist or its source.

  4. I think anyone who can lift the weight can perhaps also remove the chain!
    Thanks for sharing the art.

    Enjoy Thursday!

  7. Leuk om te zien dat beelden ook best grappig kunnen zijn, of misschien is 'aandoenlijk' hier beter. Mooie foto's.

  9. All three are very interesting. The first one almost looks like it has the face and hands of a monkey!

  10. Dearest Marianne,
That is an impressive and scary looking 'spooky dog' or spookhond. You can read about it here: http://www.ronduithattem.nl/nl/legenden/
It seems to be an old legend.
Lovely city and you showed us great photos with insights.
    Hugs,
