World Cup Football fever

With the start of the World Cup Football in Brazil this week the country has turned orange, our national colour. This is how our neighbourhood looks now, all to support our football team.

The colours of the dutch flag are blowing in the wind between the trees.

This place is covered all over.

Even the hedge has the dutch lion. Although I am not a fan of football, I hope our team will win some games, otherwise the whole stuff has to pulled down again.

  1. Looks like your "Dutch Lions" will square off with Spain tomorrow, if I read the schedule correctly.

  2. Go Lions Go - I love it that your town is caught up in the fever of the game and is excitedly displaying colours all over the place. Nice :)

  4. I don't understand the sport all that well, but hey, I don't even follow ball sports here in America either.

  5. Don't even mention it! The madness has started one week earlier here. It's World Cup on TV 24/7... At this very moment I'm watching protests in São Paulo...

  6. Beautiful colours!

I'm not a fan of the sport either. The intensity of the fans over what seems so dull baffles me.

  8. Ik ben ook geen voetbalfan, maar het is inderdaad te hopen dat alle versiering niet voor niets is opgehangen..

  10. Dearest Marianne,
But the Dutch are not Foofball players but rather Soccer!
That is so confusing I know, if you translate this from the Dutch Voetbal...
It is interesting how popular after all those years it has become now here in the USA.
Enjoy this and hope our former countrymen will winn this World Cup Soccer!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. The Daily Mail writes about football, I think soccer is american and football english language. I have learned english at school so I use this language.

    2. Dearest Marianne,
Oh sure, I too learned Oxford English but have since learned that the world is a little bit bigger than just the UK. The Aussies handle it far better with their portmanteau-word of soccer-roo!

  11. You have the tension at the top.
I wish you the game wins, otherwise all the color ribbons is pointless.
Finland does not play, so we just watch TV the games of other countries (not me, I'm not fani :).
