A view

A view at the National Remembrance Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam seen behind.
It is placed in 1956 as a World War II monument and the national Remembrance of the Dead ceremony is held here every year at May 4.

  1. A very nice remembrance monument - looks very solid, with the figures of soldiers? Very impressive. Nice photo taken in alley way.

  2. Monuments to soldiers who have served in any country are always a welcome site for remembrances of wars. If it would just stop all of us from getting into another one, the world would be well served. Thanks for a beautiful picture.

  3. Dearest Marianne,
Very artistically captured from the dark alley... Makes it even more dramatic!
Let's hope that people on the annual May 4th will still understand its true meaning...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  6. It is too bad that every country it seems needs to put up memorial honoring war dead. Guess this war misery will never end.
