An old streetcar sometimes appears in the streets of Amsterdam. There is an association that maintains and cherises the old cars and offers a ride with them. This one I remember riding in as a child. They had no doors and you could jump in and out at the stops and sometimes when it was already driving away. You could also hang on the outside standing on the footboard when it was overloaded.
Yeh, the old times.... For who is interested in pictures of the old Amsterdam streetcars, or trams as we call them here, have a look here.
Must be a real labor of love to keep these old streetcars running.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHappy memories Marianne.. I think its been many years since there were trams on Perth's streets.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBij een bezoek aan Amsterdam zou ik zeker een stukje meegaan.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat's nice. Very much like the ones we have here in San Francisco.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt looks great on the street! I'd love to go for a ride.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice to see that someone is taking care of this piece of history.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFantastic tram :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would really love to see one of these in person someday!!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI agree with John. reminds me of the ones in San Francisco.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAt one time the street car ruled. My Grandma called them trams but she was English. Behavior like jumping on and off would not be tolerated in this day of ultra safety.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLovely olde street car. I can remember my Mom talking about them in Halifax and also in early Saint John. Beauty of a photo.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow lovely !!!
