Tram

In the Amsterdam tram (streetcar).

The public transport in the Netherlands doesn't use paper tickets anymore. Everybody has to have his own smard card to check in and out by keeping the card against the red sign.

  1. We have some similar devices on our Metro buses. I'll have to remember to photograph them the next chance I get.

    1. A card with a chip in it and where you have to upload money to it, so you can pay for your ride.

  12. Our transit system is so far behind the times...
I'm wondering what happens if you don't check out?

  13. We have had a long the same kind card using when you go in, but you can go out of without it. Fortunately, you can still buy a single ticket from the driver, but it is much more expensive.
