The name of this artwork is "How to meet an angel". There is a lot of controversy about this image because it is placed on top of a psychiatric clinic in Amsterdam.
This is the explanation by artists Ilya and Emilia Kabokov. "It represents the gradual healing process that a psychiatric clinic's clients have to contend with on a daily basis, as well as the active attitude that this requires. For the passer-by it is an invitation to cast one's gaze upwards tot the skies of Amsterdam".
I read on internet that some people don't dare to pass this building anymore.

Oh I. Don't think that is in good taste.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat captures!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenPutting this sculpture on top of a psychiatric clinic seems a bit odd, but then, what do I know? ;-)
Good grief! What were they thinking?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenQue interessante... linda foto!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's very easy to understand why there is controversy.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenApart!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAn interesting installation but I don't agree with its positioning.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI can see the controversy. I must agree- it is better placed elsewhere. I do get the idea, but not here.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI too can understand the controversy and do not think that is in good taste.

I'm also not sure this is the best place for this.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhen I look up, I'd rather not see a person on the edge of a ladder.
I hope that the patients do meet an angel and get back to normal health.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA rather weird idea of art and certainly not for this particular building!
Sorry, but I cannot appreciate that so-called artist!
Hugs,
Mariette
What an artwork.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe name is quite terrible.. :) But the work looks fantastic.
