May 4th is the National Remembrance Day for the victims of WWII in the Netherlands. Tonight the King and Queen will attend the commemoration ceremony at Dam Square in Amsterdam and will lay a wreath at this national monument. It had to be cleaned for the occasion a few weeks ago.
Now I understand why our Prime minister is in Holland. I didn't realize your memorial day was on the date the war ended.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenIk heb mijn beker nog van de 10e bevrijdingsdag feest (kleuter school). Die is mij heel wat waard.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOur Remembrance Day is November 11 - On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, we will remember you. This is a most outstanding monument.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA nice candid photo of an ordinary moment, when the memorial is getting cleaned up to remind all of those lives lost.
