ArtZuid 2015

Part of the "ArtZuid" sculpture exhibition is this sitting man at a tree. It is made by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa ( 1955).

There were seven of them sitting in the business centre of Amsterdam, the "South axis" The artist often constructs his figures using words and letters, which shape the figure like a voice. This allows the viewer reading them to conjure up a thought which the figure symbolises.

I liked to see all the well dressed business people in suits and shirts uniform that is the dress-code in this place despite the heat and not taking any notice of the figures behind them.

8 opmerkingen:

  1. People around the art seem busy forming words of their own. :-)

  2. Sculpture looks like the proverbial tree-hugger. Interesting how items in the environment become almost invisible after one gets used to seeing them.
