Flock of Sheep

When walking around my surroundings last Sunday I noticed from a distance our local flock of sheep had arrived again. They move around with a mobile security fencing, to keep the grass short so no machines are needed.

It is always nice to see them again, it makes you feel you live in a countryside.

They look so sweet with their frail legs, it is a special race called in dutch the "Schoonebekers".

They were hard at work for our village.

BTW, thanks for all the kind wishes yesterday, step by step I am recovering, sleeping and reading and hanging on the sofa. Our flu shot we get here a little (to) late, end of this month, so that will not help much anymore now for us as hub SC had the flu first and than handed it over to me. So we are struggling together through this autumn.

  2. So sorry to hear you and s.c haven't been well Marianne, change of season flu is horrible! Hope you both feel better soon. Do you think you could spare two of your sheep to keep my lawn in order :) Looks like their winter coats are beginning to grow.

  3. Looks like you could just stick your hand way down into that wool and lose it altogether. I don't get flu shots. My wife does. Sometimes she gets sick. There are many different strains of flu out there and the "experts" just guess which one will be the one they need to manufacture a concoction for. I simply avoid crowded places, am aware of everything I touch, and use hand sanitizer frequently. Haven't been sick in years. Now watch; having said that...

  4. Good grief! Maybe I ought to call and get that flu shot sooner than later.

  5. This is a very environmentally friendly practice. More sheep should be used.

  10. That is a good idea. Nowhere near as noisy as a machine. Sorry to hear you have been sick. There was an awful lot of flu in Oz during the past winter. We were lucky to escape it. We did have flu shots but so did many who got the flu anyway.

  11. oh no!!!

I hope you take care and get well very soon. I suppose it's better to have the flu now, rather when it gets very cold?

In the meantime, I love these photos. The idea of sheep mowing the grass (and fertilizing it too) is great. Win win!
