Graffiti

The Amsterdam Museum has an exhibition "Graffiti - New York meets the Dam".  I am not a great fan of graffiti but this exhibition explores graffiti as a cultural phenomenon and how American artists like Keith Haring and others influenced the Dutch artists in the 1980s.

The exhibition displays were  very realistic as if you were walking in a dark city at night.

A look in the metro tunnels where they made there paintings on the walls.

The mixing of photo's with deepness made it a very interesting exhibition I think.

Their attributes to paint with.

And a collection of their paint-stained shoes.

A book with paintings by american artist Keith Haring.

  9. As I told SC, I am not a huge graffiti fan especially the tagging. I think it's awful but you both have shown some interesting work today! V

  10. I do not like the messy graffiti, but when it looks like real art work I have a real appreciation for it. How these artists do all of this with spray paint I will never know. It is hard for me to comprehend. This must be a wonderful exhibit.

  11. No doubt that Graffiti has a style that counts even if some of it is really poorly done.

  13. Zo ga je er misschien toch met iets andere ogen naar kijken. Toch ben ik niet zo'n liefhebber.

  14. Dearest Marianne,
The art of the photos with their realistic depth and light would attract me more than most of the real graffiti work.
    Hugs,
