Ready for Christmas

This is the decoration of Cafe 't Mandje in Amsterdam, one of the first gay bars in the Netherlands opened in 1927 by Bet van Beeren,  herself a lesbian.

't Mandje was not specifically a bar for gay men but more of a tolerant place where prostitutes, pimps, seamen and lesbian women came together.
The Amsterdam Museum has a copy of the interior which I showed you last January here.
Now you can understand the pink tree.

  6. First thought: How'd they get the trees out there on the window ledge?

  7. Never seen anything like that before...Coffee is on

  8. Well, I didn't think about the pink tree. There are so many versions of different trees it's hard (for me anyway) to catch the differences.

  9. Oh my goodness... I don't know what to think about these Christmas trees, maybe I don't like....

  10. Dearest Marianne,
That is indeed a very special post and a nice follow-up on your previous story.
Do they do this annually since that time?
Looks great; hope they did fasten them securely with all the storms for this season.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  11. Very pretty! I was wondering the same thing about whether they are securely fastened.

  12. They would certainly catch your eye. I wonder if they have lights on them?

  13. I'm fascinated with the little ledges the trees are perched on. Someone had an interesting job putting them up there. I remember a time in, I thInk,the late 1950s when white trees and trees in pastel colors, especially pink and blue, were popular so I didn't think anything of this pink tree until you pointed it out.
