Pepper-pot

An advertisement of the Rijksmuseum on the so called "pepper-pot"in Amsterdam.
This transfomer pole is a transformer station in the form of an advertising column ( "pepper-pot"). The exterior of the pole  is rented for advertisements. Such transformer columns appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century in various Dutch cities.

  5. Ah, so the utility companies sell the space?! Naive me thought these murals were just an attempt by communities to beautify their cities. I like this mural very much!

It goes with the place, both -- the pepper pot and the colours of the ad.
