This is the easel of dutch painter "George Hendrik Breitner" (1857-1923) exhibited in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He deliberately chose his models from rhe lower classes, workers, maids and residents of poor districts. This portrait is named "the Earring" the first painting in his Kimono series.
One of his most famous paintings is "Girl in Kimono". From entries in his sketchbook and photos we know she is "Geesje Kwak" who posed for the painter between the ages of 16 and 18. In 1895 she emigrated to South Africa where she died at a young age in 1899.
Breitner had stayed in Paris in 1884, where Japonism dominated the fashion scene and he became fascinated by Japanese art. He made 13 paintings with the same subject, Girl in Kimono, and they were all on display in a museum for the first time.
Fortunately there was another painting which he is famous for and I liked very much, one of his many impressionistic streetviews of the old Amsterdam in the 19th century.
