Rapeseed

The blooming rapeseed reflecting into the ditch in Almere. The rapeseed (Brassica napus) is an annual plant with yellow flowers that has returned to the Netherlands halfway through the twentieth century. The reclamation of the Flevopolder where we live made the crop also popular in that region due to the positive impact of the rape on the soil structure.

  3. Great reflections. All I know about rapeseed is that it's used to make cooking oils (canola).

  8. This is a very beautiful photo. I like the way the flowers and their reflections lead my eye to the ducks which seem to be under a spotlight. :-)

  9. Driving from London to Manchester today I saw fields and fields of the brilliant yellow rape seed. More and more seems to be grown these days. That's a wonderful reflection of it in the water.
