The Bridge

From 2015 we could see how a railway bridge was build at the right hand side of this road. Piece by piece you could see it growing higher and higher. A few weeks ago the bridge was finally finished and had to be placed at its destination.

A huge operation was prepared to move this 255 meters long, 17 meters wide and 50 meters high bridge. During the night all the traffic and trains were blocked and the bridge moved cm to cm on little wheels to the right place. This weekend we drove for the first time by car under the bridge.

Watch this video about building and placing the bridge.

  2. What a fabulous design for a bridge. Engineers are just so clever. Interesting we both chose bridges for our posts today.

  5. Dearest Marianne,
That was again an example of engineering at its very best! It worked out very well for completing it during the night.
    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Fascinating. Seems it would be easier to build on site and reroute traffic for a time. But I'm not engineer so what do I know...zip.
