Europride

Europride is a pan-European international event dedicated to the LGBT pride, hosted by a different European city each year. The host city is usually one with an established gay pride or a significant LGBT community. This year Amsterdam is the host city to the Europride.

The international  rainbow flags are everywhere, representing the LGBT pride. For up a fortnight, numorous sporting and artistic events are staged throughout the host city.

The Europride is traditionally ending with a big Mardi Grass-style pride parade, in Amsterdam it is usually a Canal-Parade which takes  place this weekend.

Here a picture of last year's canal parade.

  1. Gay pride is an important part of living in a free society.

  2. Small towns, which is all I've ever lived in, don't have gay pride celebrations in the US so I've never attended one. The canal parade looks like a very popular event.

  8. Dearest Marian,
Hope all will go well, including the parade!
Yes, The Netherlands has always been very open to the LGBT community but there are so many countries where they get executed... Was thinking that Milo Yiannopoulas be involved but did not see his name on the list. We had him here for the RNC convention's LGBT party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsuIWMCRof4
Sending you hugs and LOTS of sunshine,
    Mariette
