Amsterdam has many bridges and many shipping through the canals, so you have to wait often for an open bridge. This woman dives in her handbag....
to get a cigarette and her iPhone to make the wait more pleasant.

Nice candid photo.
BeantwoordenVerwijdereni guess it's just something you get used to after a while...
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI imagine that takes a few minutes.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBagel break. :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFotografias maravilhosas um belo momento.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenUm abraço e bom fim de semana.

O die telefoon!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGuess when you have to wait for the bridge/fence to move you find something to occupy yourself.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe open bridge is unusual to me these days. When I lived in a island in Helsinki, and there was an old bridge, we "always" got to wait when it was open. But not any more, there is new bridge, and no more big ships.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou got a wonderful series of this woman in bike.
I grew up in a town that had 3 of these bridges that divided the town. Sometime is was annoying when traffic was backed up.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLots of bridges here, too, as we are surrounded by water and islands. Many still open for ships passing and we have to wait. It's just part of life when you live near water. Nice photos.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIf there are many bridges in a city that means there is much water – and cities with rivers running through them are so nice.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell, with that many canals there for sure are lots of boats passing through and it is unavoidable for having to wait a little.
But the scene of women smoking is here almost zero and I'm glad for that!
In general you seldom encounter a smoking person.
I prefer the fresh and clean air.
Hugs,
Mariette
