Heavy maintenance

The upcoming months our neighbourhood will undergo a heavy maintenance. Starting last week with the cutting of almost all our trees of 37 years old.

After cutting the trunk, the tree was lifted up by a crane and carried through the street.

It was a rather strange sight to see the tree traveling along the houses.

The ride ended on this grass court.

Where is was put down.

Men with electric saws started to remove the branches in a high speed.

Everything went into the shredder.

And this is all that's left or our trees. It is said that there will be new ones after all the work is done.
I will keep you posted with us slogging through the sand.

  1. Trabalhos muito importantes antes da chegada do Inverno.
    Um abraço e boa semana.

  2. I am amazed. With the right tools it is surprising what can be done in such a short time.

  3. I wonder why the old trees had to go and new ones are coming in? It certainly was done in a very efficient manner!

  4. There must be a good reason to cut down the trees, but I hate to see them go. New replacements will be terrific. That pile of shredded wood is a bit sorry-to-see.

  5. Waren de bomen ziek? Er zal toch een reden zijn waarom zoveel bomen gekapt worden..

  6. Well, they'd better have a very good reason for taking your trees down.

  7. It's sad to see trees go, especially when it takes so long for them to grow.

  8. Heartbreaking, but I suppose it was necessary.

  9. Were the trees in the way of construction, or were they trees with a short life span and need to be replaced?

    1. In the way of construction, all the pavement has to be renewed and uplifted with 20 cm of sand, as we sink in this polder land built in the sea every year many inches.

  10. It always sad to see how the trees are taken off. It takes so long tim a new tree to grow again as big.
