As in many cities Amsterdam also builts new buildings with glassfacades which does not fit with the other brick buildings around. In the reflection you can see the opposite of the street with the old houses. Modern times sigh...

Tja, oud versus nieuw. Zolang de oude gebouwen maar behouden blijven..
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA shame it doesn't match.

I suppose it would be difficult to build houses matching the old ones, they now need to be bigger and higher. But I like the contrast with old and new together.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOld houses in front and to the side Marianne, as long as there are always the heritage buildings 😀
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat reflections!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI enjoy our walks together!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA sharp contrast in architecture. I prefer the older.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAt least they kept similar lines and it reflects the old ones.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNew buildings built to look like old ones never look right.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenDefinitely add more light to interior spaces.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt does have one advantage over the old - makes for good reflections.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI am not a fan of steel and glass.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe best of both worlds. I love brick buildings but I also love reflections.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOh, I much prefer your classic, older architecture!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAt least they kept similar lines and it reflects the old ones.
