The former St. Agnes Convent founded by the Sisters of the Common Life. The construction of the monastery started in the first half of the 15th century. After the Reformation of 1580 the building has had numerous destinations but now houses the Museum Elburg.
The St. Nicolas Church behind the city walls.
Another pretty street, the houses at the end were built against the citywalls and are very small.
Here you could have a look inside.
Wat een mooi gerestaureerd klooster.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGlad I don't live in that last house. Talk about glass houses!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenElburg is such a pretty town Marianne, you can see that it's been there a very long time, lovely cobbled streets.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like that architecture as well. So different from what I am used to see.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI wouldn't want to live in that last house where everyone walking by could just look in. But otherwise I like the architecture.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne feels sorry for the sisters at the time of the big change. Nicely photographed Marianne
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat convent was built to last!

I would love to be peeking inside! We like small homes and it would be fun to see these. The streets are pretty!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI'm with Sallie! I always want to peer into the window if I can. I liked the shutters on the building. Two unusual designs, at least unusual to me. And of course they weren't made for decoration; they actually opened and closed the Windows.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe restored monastery is beautiful. I especially like all those shutters.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe old convent looks quite imposing.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's what you call dense housing. It should be practised all over . We have lots of land so think we can use it for single detached houses with big yards. It's not a good idea,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove that little street in photo 4. It looks so tucked away!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautifully kept buildings. Sorry I haven't been commenting for ages.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe old convent looks quite imposing.
