American Realism

At last I payed a visit at this exhibition I very much wanted to see. A two hour drive by car to the Drents Museum in the north kept us this cold winter from it.

It is all about American Realism 1945-1965. Some paintings even look like pictures as this one by Stone Roberts, "The Lake in Central Park: A Late Afternoon in Early June.

Woman Reading by Will Barnet  from 1965.

I always liked the funny paintings by Norman Rockwell.

Some icons of the sixties.

  5. How interesting. I would have enjoyed seeing that very much. Many years ago when I was working in Chicago, I flew to Washington DC specifically to see an exhibition of Norman Rockwell's work. It was great because it had a lot of originals and some that had never been published. This looks like it was well worth the long drive.

  9. What is going on in my USA is profoundly disturbing, yet there is hope. To see this person exposed and removed is my fondest prayer. Sorry world. Don't give up on us. Millions more voted for Clinton than for the liar.
