A side entrance of the former stock exchange building has a sculpture which unfortunately has become very dirty by polluted air in the centre of Amsterdam.
It is an image of "Hugo de Groot" (1583-1645) a Dutch jurist and writer.
Have a look "here" for a better image before it had become black.
Too bad it is being neglected. Volunteers needed for a cleanup.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI wonder if they can use power washers on these old statues? It sure could use a wash.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHe looks so different all fresh and clean.. I guess we all do 😀
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's a great looking statue and it needs a good scrubbing.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHe bears a striking resemblance to the Shroud of Turin!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHere they do clean it up after a certain point- sand blasting or a power wash.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenUnfortunately much of the urban sculpture gets very dirty.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI looked at the older image and it really does look better cleaned up.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWow, old Hugo needs a good scrubbing!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHe needs a good washing compared to the clean version.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe could all use a good wash now and then.
