Once a year , the third Tuesday of September we have the traditional "Prince's Day", the opening of the parlement in the Hague by the King and Queen. I was not there but made some screenshots from television. I like the pomp and ceremony of this day, with coaches, horses and uniforms from long ago.
It is like watching a real life movie passing by.
The Glass Carriage.
Always a challenge to get out the carriage with a long dress.
The Knight's hall with the parlement members and invitees, where King Willem Alexander reads the plans of the government for the coming year.
King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima.
And off again to the Palace.
Where they give a traditional wave to the public with his brother Prince Constantijn and his wife Princess Laurentien.
Everyone loves a parade... especially a Royal parade.

You got some excellent shots! Thanks for sharing; only Europeans know how to do pomp and ceremony!!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou took some very good photos considering that you took them off the TV screen - I think that your country is just as keen on a bit of 'pomp and ceremony' as our country is.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would love to have seen this in person. I love all these ceremonies that we don't have over here.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIk hoop dat ze de ceremonie in stand houden, blijft mooi om te zien.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour television must be really good to be able to get shots like this off it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove these ceremonies as well Marianne.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a grand ceremony, the photos are excellent.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love all the red, black, and gold. So regal!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe pomp and circumstance reminds us of our history and some important traditions about our government.

It's almost as if you were there Marianne, sometimes I think you see much more of the event on tv than you would if you were at the back of the crowd. You take excellent screen shots, mind never come out as good as this ✨
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a beautiful Royal family and event steeped in colorful formal traditions!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBless your wonderful country!
