Crowds in the city

Amsterdam inhabitants are complaining that the city has become too crowded, too many tourists, too many traffic. I made this photo at the Rokin in the centre, I must admit I zoomed in a bit but you can see what they mean and I agree with them. Measures has been taken to reduce the traffic as much as possible, less cars in the innercity and along the canals. Tourists must be spread over the country to visit also other attractions than Amsterdam.

But when you have wrestled yourself out of the crowds,  you can still find a quiet place for a drink.

  5. I think I would be looking for those quieter places Marianne, or be getting up really early to explore the popular spots. Tourists are getting out of hand every where ✨

  7. Most cities seem to be crowded these days but you are right, if you move away from the main streets you can usually find a quiet cafe.

  9. Crowds can bring chaos and stress. I don't like to go where the tourists go. I prefer the smaller places where you can get a feel of the culture and the locals. It's a more pleasant experience.

  10. It's a don't know whether to laugh or cry situation. Business wants more people for their money. Residents want more peace and quiet.
