We have a few locks in Almere Haven to pass the waterlevel from the canals to the Gooilake. It is hollidays time now so it is a bit crowded to get in.

And than wait until the level is reached, it is all self service, no lockkeeper, it works electrically.

The lockdoors open and the boats can leave. Linking to "Our World Tuesday"

  1. It amazes me that locks like this are all operated electronically now. I grew up in a city on the Mississippi River so one of our family pass-times was watching the boats and barges go through the locks but, those were all operated by the lockkeepers.

  2. The locks look very busy. A leisurely way to travel though.

  3. It looks like the locks work very well, even without a keeper! Looks like a fun place to be.

  4. Modern stuff. everybody is in a hurry.
