Skinny Bridge

The "Skinny Bridge"in Amsterdam. A bascule bridgeover the river Amstel made of white painted wood, dating from 1934. Use of the bridge has been limited to pedestrians and cyclist since 2003. The centre part is opened many times daily, in order to let river traffic pass. The bridge is decorated with 1200 light bulbs which are turned on in the evening.

  1. That's amazing that the wood has held up for so many years.
Looking forward to your night photography when the lights come on. ;-)

  4. What an unique bridge and it must look incredible when it is lit up. I have been a fan of bridges ever since I was a kid. My daughter lives in Portland, Oregon and the city has 12 bridges. When we lived there she was very young and wanted to walk over each one. A nice memory for me. :)
