Historisch Museum Ede

This is a very small museum in a very small village named Ede. It has a nice collection from the pre-history until now and a special exhibition about a first airflight of Jan Hilgers in 1910. He was the first Dutchman to fly in the Dutch air.
It was a funny story, he was not able to make a turning with his plane in the air, he could only fly straight on. So he put the plane on the ground, turned it by hand, got up again and landed in Ede were he had started.Posted by Picasa

New pillow

My sweetie Pim has a new cat-pillow, it is specially made for cats and has something in it what makes a cat feel very comfortable. He is very pleased with this new item and I hardly see him do anything else than sleep on it. I don't have to rub the cat-hairs from the couch anymore!

Controversial?

A new statue in Almere Haven by Paul de Reus. I symbolizes the many faces and diversity of the city.
The reactions are also diverse, some people think it is "shocking" or "repellent".
I don't understand all the noise about it, I think it is just funny and beautiful made.

I am off for a few days to London, with an underground strike right now! grrrrrr.

Highschool.

In the sixties this was my highschool in Amsterdam. During World War II it was a headquarter of the SD, the notorious German Police. Very bad things has happened in the building, especially in the cellars people had been tortured. In 1944 the building was bombed and partly damaged.
I had a very nice schooltime, as a teenager you enjoy, but I was aware of the history. With schoolparty's in the cellar I always felt rather uncomfortable.
