Here I have once lived in Amsterdam South-East. When we got married in 1970 there was no housing accommodation for young people in Amsterdam, so many of them left the city and tried to find a house outside Amsterdam.
The city government started to built apartments in a new suburb "the Bijlmer" and we were lucky to get one.
It was a bit desolated neighbourhood at that time, there was nothing but high apartment buildings.
After a year we found an apartment in the city and ran back again to a lively Amsterdam with shops, markets and movietheaters.
That is a huge apartment complex!
