Albenga

Albenga has a medieval centre with at the left an amazing high tower from the 13th century. In front you see a baptizing chapel which was built in the 5th century. The Romans had already founded here a harbour city called "Albingaunum".

"Piazza dei Leoni" ( square of the lions) has three stone lions which were brought from Rome by the local graves Costa.

A view through the small alleys.

It was a Sunday morning and the locals came together at the church square to go to church, some of them well dressed up.

How interesting that they park their boats on the street. Makes total sense when you think about those rock cliffs!
