Taphophile Tragics

At the cemetery in Almere Haven is this grave of a young boy who passed away at fourteen. My attention was attracted by the beautiful dolfin rising up from the sea. This cemetery is in my hometown and is a very well preserved green place with lots of trees.

  1. There are so many things to do with the sea left on him memorial. Water must have been important to him. I know it figures high in the thinking of many Dutch people as much of your land is below sea-level.

It certainly is a very green and lush looking cemetery at this time of the year. Not that that would make it easier to lose a 14 year old boy.

I don't associate dolphins with The Netherlands, however.

  7. I found the cemeteries in France to be like this with little momentos left of the graves as well as pictures of the deceased. This grave is an especially beautiful and touching one. genie

  8. How sad. The boy must've loved to fish, or loved fish, period. It's a beautiful headstone!
