Syrup waffles

A syrup waffle baker in the Amsterdam Museum was making these delicious typical Dutch cookies. The waffles are made from two thin layers of baked batter with a caramel-like syrup filling in the middle. They were first made in the city Gouda in 1784.

  4. Oh goodness, dutch waffles et caramel - my two most fav to blend together - Oh So Yummy. We had pancakes n english sausages with maple syrup for supper last night. The sweet tooth is at work.

    i like them. but now that i cannot buy them here, i do not miss them.... but its always funny to hear how much the foreigners like them!

  6. Never heard of those before. I'd try one, but probably that would be my limit, just one. Sounds too rich for me.

  7. Interesting outdoor operation. Hard to believe this guy makes these from start to finish outdoors. Needless to say I really like waffles.
