Landed

After the exciting times we had with the celebrations with the new King, we have landed now slowly on earth and can look back at all the nice memories. I would love to lie down like thiswoman and dream away, but it is still to cold here to do so. When we have a sunny day, there is always a cold strong wind blowing the warmth away. Anyway, we still hope warm spring times will come.

This sculpture lies in the garden of  Nijenhuis Castle and is made by German Werner Stotzer (1931-2010) in 1972 and is named "Die Werra".The explanation I read is a bit complicated," Die Werra" is a river in his birthplace. To depict a river by a naked man or woman goes back to the old Greeks. But his sculpture doesn't reminds of streaming water at all because he uses heavy stone for his sculptures. That's what the text says, it is not my opinion. The name doesn't matter I think, everybody can make his own interpretation.

  1. Your weather sounds much like ours. We have had a few nice days but that wind comes in from the north and the little spring warmth gets chased away. Nice sculpture.

  4. You really have had an exciting week Marianne..I wonder if a lot of people are thinking this is what Queen Elizabeth should perhaps do also? I have to say the sculpture did make me smile, not exactly what you would expect to come across in the park :)

  6. Okay the figure is a smooth flowing body so I see how it fits with the river and flowing water.
