At the art exhibition "ARTZUID 2013 in Amsterdam this head made of wood I hadn't recognized as the image of Nelson Mandela at once. It is made by Jems Robert Koko Bi from the Ivory Coast in Africa.
The artist made the head of wooden pallet blocks to express his admiration for Nelson Mandela.
That is a very relevant post at this time. He certainly was a giant of a man in what he did for South Africa. An Interesting sculpture from blocks.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMandela is one of my heroes. May he be soon released from his earthly cares and woes to enjoy eternal peace.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe artist has chosen a subject who is loved by many. I agree with Kate.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSo this would be a blockhead? Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI think he was bricking it John !
VerwijderenI like the idea of using wooden blocks to create the bust. I don't think he got the essence of Mandela.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is a very time consuming piece, but very satisfying once completed. Great pic
