This may look like an ordinary picture of a view in Amsterdam, but it is the first time after twelve ! years this view is visible without working machines and stored materials . Because of the construction of an underground to another part of Amsterdam there was a concrete island created here with all the storage on it. The blue sign at the left says "Striking isn't it?" And that is exactly what I thought when I came along. Couldn't believe my eyes.
The white wooden building is the North-South Holland Coffee shop built in 1912 opposite the Central Station. From this building a boat crossed the IJ river to a tramstation where you could connect the Waterland tram.
The construction of the underground is a never ending story in Amsterdam which hast cost 2 billion Euro so far in twelve years and disrupted several parts of the city for years.
So it is a real relief for everybody to see Amsterdam is its normal state again.
