A square overlooking the city: that is what architect Renzo Piano envisioned when he designed the NEMO science center building in Amsterdam.
The museum is built upon the tunnel under the river IJ.
22 meters above water level you can imagine you are sitting on the beach.
Children can play in the interactive water feature.
You can have a drink.
And enjoy the views over Amsterdam.
It looks a bit hazy, but we are having the most wonderful summer times again with high temperatures 26 degrees C today!
This place is really faulous! Made by a very clever architecte !
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat an incredible space Marianne.. fab views.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA great place to relax...and I know the kids like the water feature. The same genius designed and extension to one of our museums, down the street from me in Texas!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is a really interesting concept - we too are enjoying the most glorious Indian Summer, I am loving it - long may it continue.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSuch a clever architect to come up with this plan. And the water for the kids to wade through is priceless. Such a devine spot to enjoy the water.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenJa heerlijk!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is the strangest thing. Pretty cool.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLong may this warm weather continue. Renzo Piano designed a number of buildings in London most notably The Shard - the tallest building in Northern Europe but too expensive for me to go up and view London from its lofty height.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe dutch have worked very hard to make a beautiful and safe country. Here's a good example.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like the architectural style. For a science center, it feels right.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou have so many wonderful places to go and things to do in your lovely city.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAmazing what 22 meters in elevation does for having a spectacular view of the city Amsterdam!
Smart idea for making the lazy steps and also the interactive water for keeping kids busy!
Hugs,
Mariette

BeantwoordenVerwijderenand yes, the weather is crazy. we get what we missed in august!!!!
That is a great idea and use of roof space.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow interesting, to build over a tunnel. And what a gorgeous view to enjoy on such a warm September day.
