Up on the roof

A square overlooking the city: that is what architect Renzo Piano envisioned when he designed the NEMO science center building in Amsterdam. 

The museum is built upon the tunnel under the river IJ.

22 meters above water level you can imagine you are sitting on the beach.

Children can play in the interactive water feature.

You can have a drink.

And enjoy the views over Amsterdam.

It looks a bit hazy, but we are having the most wonderful summer times again with high temperatures 26 degrees C today!

    A great place to relax...and I know the kids like the water feature. The same genius designed and extension to one of our museums, down the street from me in Texas!

    Such a clever architect to come up with this plan. And the water for the kids to wade through is priceless. Such a devine spot to enjoy the water.

    Long may this warm weather continue. Renzo Piano designed a number of buildings in London most notably The Shard - the tallest building in Northern Europe but too expensive for me to go up and view London from its lofty height.

    Amazing what 22 meters in elevation does for having a spectacular view of the city Amsterdam!
    Smart idea for making the lazy steps and also the interactive water for keeping kids busy!
