Metro

Waiting for a tram on a tramstop in Amsterdam, I noticed this "poem" in front of me. As you can see the innercity is still a mess because of the everlasting construction of a new metro line and that is what this text is about. I shall try to translate it in english
.
Metro

When the city is a body,
the houses-skin and hair-their bones,
sticking in the earth, we as blood corpuscles,
pale, flowing through her veins
through giant gaping mouths
entering and surfacing again, then
that body had a heart problem
and we laid a bypass to it.

It is a nice kind of excuse for all the mess and discomfort to the citizens and visitors of Amsterdam I think. Linking to signs, signs

  1. Oh that is funny! Could they possible be putting the metro under ground. Surely not.

  2. Reminds me of the many years businesses in our area struggled while the new Metro line was being constructed.

  3. Disruption is inevitable but it's nice when it is acknowledged in a slightly different way.

  4. Someone certainly has a sense of humor in the city or on the construction crew. We had our road torn up in front of the subdivision for over a year, and they kept switching the barricades to confuse everyone. There were some minor wrecks, but thankfully nothing too serious.

  5. I rode a tram in Krakow and it is the first one I have ever ridden. We don't have them here where I live.

  6. And in a short time after it is completed it will be outdated and they start all over?

  9. That is a very dramatic explanation for a mess! I'm sure it will look nice when all finished.

  13. Well, that's thoughtful of them to write something meaningful about the construction.

  14. We have disruption here with a tunnel being put through the core for the overall LRT line. This shot reminds me of some of the work being done.

  15. We could use some poetry around all the construction sites here!
