Calling hunk

This crowned hunk with wooden shoes was calling me when I passed.

I entered the former public library, now transformed into a fancy boutique hotel in Amsterdam,  and found him again in the garden.

And there were even two of them!

The designer Marcel Wanders is responsible for the interior and the decorations of this hotel.
It is hard to believe that once here were bookcases with thousands of books!

  1. Very unusual images...the caller. What was he calling for? Love those chandeliers in the interior, and you are right....who could imagine it was once a library?

  2. As a foreigner, I'm not sure who or what this "hunk" is. Wonder what happened to all the books?

  9. Let's see, he's wearing no shirt, wooden shoes, what looks like pyjama pants, and a crown. Did the subject of these sculptures lose a bet?

    Good shots!

  10. I'm always amazed at the reuse of buildings in Holland and the art work that goes along with it. Beautiful.

  11. Dearest Marianne,
Indeed, one wonders where all the library books went... Quite a change!
What a great idea that guy, wearing a crown and wooden shoes and calling after or for someone.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
